Happy New Year: Reflecting on 2018 at the Pines Resort

As we enter the new year, we can’t help but feel grateful for all what 2018 offered us. It’s hard to believe, but each year gets better and better.

Here is an overview of what took place during 2018 here at The Pines Resort in Bass Lake, CA.

January

While technically this took place on NYE in 2017, the fun had during the Winter Wonderland NYE Party here at The Pines Resort was one for the books. The family-friendly event was so much fun, with live music by Damaged Goods, party favors, complimentary snacks, festive decor, kids crafts, and photo booths.

Similar to this year’s lineup, guests were able to enjoy an incredible dinner at Ducey’s on the Lake prior to attending the party, and shared a champagne toast accompanied by fireworks at midnight!

Yoga on the Lake

It’s all about balance, which is why we were beyond thrilled to host Three Sisters Yoga Co-Op’s FREE yoga workshop for beginners. The first event of the new year included a session with a yoga sequence followed by reflective journaling.

February

Super Bowl Party in the Pines Bar & Super Bowl Viewing Party at the Lake in Ducey’s Bar & Grill

Between the two locations, there were games with prizes, giveaways, 5 big screen HD TVs… all with FREE admission. Oh, yeah, and the actual football game and commercials were pretty fun to watch, too.

Valentine’s Day at Bass Lake

Valentine’s Day 2018 grew a bit (okay, a lot) more romantic with a specially prepared Valentine’s Day Dinner at Ducey’s on the Lake.

Burger & Beer Special

During the month of February, guests were able to enjoy a locally sourced, never frozen, lean Harris Ranch Angus burger with a pint of beer for only $15! To say this special was popular would be an understatement.

March

March was a busy month! We hosted the Pines Resort Job Fair where individuals were ale to apply for culinary, housekeeping, food & beverage, front desk, market, and banquet positions here at the Pines Resort, as well as:

April

Easter Champagne Brunch Buffet at Ducey’s on the Lake offered a menu that appealed to all taste palates. With a selection of breakfast food, an array of salads, sides, desserts, and a carving station with baked ham, prime rib, roasted turkey, and leg of lamb, guests were satisfied, to say the least.

Winemaker Dinner by Fasi Estate Winery was an intimate event made incredibly delicious with a seven-course dinner that was paired with the newly-released wine from Fasi Estate Winery.

May

In hindsight, May was a month of partying, and with the Cinco de Mayo celebration complete with tacos de carne asada and Modelo beer kicking off the month of May, it’s not at all surprising.

Immediately following the Cinco de Mayo celebration, Bass Lake saw an influx of people who were all eager to participate in the 38th Annual Bass Lake Fishing Derby.  And, one week later, we partied during the Bass Lake Annual Block Party.

In addition to the countless boats cruising around the lake, there was Live Music by the Executive Rockers, Beer Tasting (Barrel House Brewing), outdoor games, an enormous amount of good eats, sidewalk sales, boat rides, free shuttle rides between the north & south shores, and the Pines Village Craft Fair! This is an annual event, so keep your eyes open for information on 2019’s block party.

We also saw many, many families and friends celebrating Mother’s Day at The Pines Resort’s Mother’s Day Champagne Brunch at Ducey’s on the Lake.

Other events that took place during the month of May include:

June

It was such a success in January, we figured it’d be a good idea to bring it back. We were right.

Yoga on the Lake provided guests with the opportunity to pause, breathe, and connect with themselves. But don’t fret, you don’t have to wait for another Yoga on the Lake event to reconnect with yourself! Yoga along the shores of Bass Lake can be done anytime, so consider trying yoga on the lake this new year.

Independence Day BBQ & Fireworks was the highlight of July, but
Painting in the Pines and the Sign & Sip – Sign Painting Workshop followed closely behind.

Summer’s are always so busy here at the lake, so reserve your chalet or suite now!

August

In August, we saw the last Bass Lake Live during the Bass Lake Live Season Finale with Motel Drive.

This year, we got to party with AC Myles, Hubcap Stealers, Cool Blues, Dakota Crossing, Brad Wilson, RAW, After Dinner Mints, and Damaged Goods. To say we had a blast would be an understatement!

Any guesses on who will grace the lake with their tunes this summer?

September

September was quiet on the event front, but there was still a lot taking place on The Pines Resort grounds, as well as around Bass Lake and Yosemite. Just look at this beautiful photo taken by local photographer, Janet Martinez.

October

There were a few events that took place before we kicked off the holiday season, beginning with the Evening Glow at the Pines. This allowed us to transition from a seemingly long and hot Summer into the crisp temps and warm hues of Fall. This relaxing, creatively expressive event made way for the 3rd Annual Bass Lake Halloween Carnival & Fall Festival, Costume Contest, and Pines Village Autumn Craft Fair — all of which took place during the last weekend of October. It was a busy weekend!

November and December

Holiday events can feel like one big blur. Just ask any parent.

During November, we hosted a delicious Thanksgiving Day Buffet.

Following Thanksgiving was the 27th Annual Bass Lake Christmas Tree Lighting, Pines Village Holiday Bazaar, and the popular Brewmaster’s Dinner at Bass Lake.

December was equally busy. Not only did we have Pancakes & Pictures with Santa each weekend in December leading up to Christmas but we also held two Kids Gingerbread House Parties.

On Christmas Day we hosted a Christmas Day Buffet with salads, entrees, sides and desserts, and a carving station with holiday favorites including:

  • Honey Glazed Ham
  • Roasted Leg of Lamb
  • Prime Rib
  • Roasted Turkey

And our annual New Year’s Eve dinner and party overlooking beautiful Bass Lake.

Still, with as many memories made and events held during 2018 at The Pines Resort, we cannot move into the new year without thanking the thousands of people who worked tirelessly to put out the devastating #FergusonFire that ravaged through Yosemite in July and August. Thank you all for all you’ve done and continue to do. If you’d like to make a donation to the Wildland Firefighter Founder, you can do so here.

Thank you, 2018…

And thank you all for another remarkable year! We look forward to seeing you and your loved ones create new memories and uphold traditions in 2019. In the meantime, take a look at some of the photos shared with us during 2018.
